Set in Ngāmotu (New Plymouth), Taranaki, the story begins with a bomb detonating at a peaceful Māori protest over a mining license at a sacred site. Over eight episodes, the series follows five characters whose lives collide in the last hour before the explosion: a rising Māori musician, a father-activist, a Chinese-Kiwi police officer, a Māori MP, and a nurse and mother. Their stories explore identity, activism, language, culture, truth, and the tension between power and belonging.
